[[City]] has contacted [[Veela]] back on November 8th, 2023, and got turned down. V's response email said: "I just checked out your spotify. First of all, congrats on a wonderful catalogue, very cool music! I'm not sure our styles are going to mix, however, especially for my album". He had 2 songs on her Versatile album in the end, and a year later they were in a band and also had other songs together.

== The nest ==
The nest comes from the initial investigation on what Veela's new project could be, which included a blurred photo of [[In a mood (EP)|find a way back]] lyrics. The "I'm stuck in a mood" lyric was guessed as "I'm stuck in a nest". This is represented in the [[introducing mad routine]] movie. The "KQ94 The Nest" lyric in [[midnight]] is also related to the meme.

== Plot ==
The film shows [[Vanessa]] and [[Cole]] live their life in late 90s, early 2000s and some band struggles. They walk around town and explore a record store and other shops, hang out and play guitar.

Cole wants to surprise Vanessa with a CD walkman from [[Roy]] but she's on the phone arguing with [[Richard]] so he gives it to her later. Then they go through their findings including a score for Linkin Park's ''Somewhere I Belong'' and a ''Lord of the Strings'' picture. After decorating the wall they go shopping clothes.

In the next scene Cole tells Vanessa their show is cancelled because they didn't sell enough tickets even with the openers and the advertisement efforts. Then they write find a way back on camera (the song was already written in real life). The ''in a nest'' bit is a reference to [[the nest]] meme.

Finally, they start recording the song and then various scenes from the movie are shown again.

Insomniac's project was originally called anvil and the instrumental was included in the movie [[introducing mad routine]], first shown on November 17th, 2024. An early demo was played on January 17th, 2025 with live vocals, without [[City]]'s knowledge and it was kept as a secret for a year.

Control's demo name was yashica. The music video was filmed in the summer during the band trip of [[pool party]] at Farney's on Jefferson and at The Washington in Burlington, IA by V & C, [https://www.instagram.com/jordanbink/ @JordanBink] and [https://www.youtube.com/@YaBoi3Hunna @YaBoi3Hunna]. An early demo was played as a preview on February 9th, 2025.

When the [[mad respecters]] solved the puzzle that revealed part of the lyrics for this song, another solution was crowdsourced, which became rat by rat moodine. This also got recorded and a distorted and reversed version was included on the website as a hidden track.

They recorded the lyrics during the same night, making changes at the last minute too. They recorded the music video the next day on November 30th, 2024. The trip for the production of visuals and the accompanying movie was crowdfunded starting on October 8th, 2025. The goal was reached on October 25th, 2025.

Insomniac's project was originally called anvil and the instrumental was included in the movie [[introducing mad routine]], first shown on November 17th, 2024. An early demo was played on January 17th, 2025 with live vocals, without [[City]]'s knowledge and it was kept as a secret for a year.

=== Control ===
Control's demo name was yashica. The music video was filmed in the summer during the band trip of [[pool party]] at Farney's on Jefferson and at The Washington in Burlington, IA by V & C, [https://www.instagram.com/jordanbink/ @JordanBink] and [https://www.youtube.com/@YaBoi3Hunna @YaBoi3Hunna]. An early demo was played as a preview on February 9th, 2025.

The song is about Vanessa trying to get Cole to let go of his guard being a city guy to be able to have a united voice and authenticity.

Fresh air's demo name was darkness. The music video was recorded at The Strathcona Hotel and at Urge Tattoos in Victoria, BC. The band actually got tattoos by Gnome (Lindsay) during filming.

Double life was started on City's birthday in 2025 and was called birthday for almost a year. Depeche Mode and Eurythmics were influences for this song. An early demo was played as a preview on February 28th, 2025. The music video was recorded at The Strathcona Hotel and at Big Bad John's in the hotel in Victoria, BC.

=== Rot ===
Rot was mentioned in the [[Pool party '99 (movie)|pool party '99 movie]] as it was meant to be on that EP first. It was redacted from the movie and the title was kept a secret until the website release of this EP. V started and produced a lot of this song.

When the [[mad respecters]] solved the puzzle that revealed part of the lyrics for this song, another solution was crowdsourced, which became rat by rat moodine. This also got recorded and a distorted and reversed version was included on the website as a hidden track.

It's the ending music for the [[Insomniac (movie)|insomniac]] movie.

Later on Ashley from [[Boy Boy Boy]] calls V, telling her that they have to pay the money back that they got from their label. Cole knows how this goes, but he sees labels as the next step for mad routine. Vanessa wants to do this without the help of a label, having bad experiences with [[Richard]] already. They start arguing to the point Cole leaves, which leads into the music video for ''disappear''.

After the music video Cole apologizes to V (while they work on the poster for the EP). Vanessa feels like Cole was right, and doesn't really believe he honestly thinks they can do this. V wants to do home-made music videos, they go on to record one for ''won't stop runnin''' right there. Then they go to a park full of peacocks. Then Cole talks about having to leave soon. Vanessa still doesn't really believe he'll come back.

Insomniac's project was originally called anvil and the instrumental was included in the movie [[introducing mad routine]], first shown on November 17th, 2024. An early demo was played on January 17th, 2025 with live vocals, without [[City]]'s knowledge and it was kept as a secret for a year.

Control's demo name was yashica. The music video was filmed in the summer during the band trip of [[pool party]] at Farney's on Jefferson and at The Washington in Burlington, IA by V & C, [https://www.instagram.com/jordanbink/ @JordanBink] and [https://www.youtube.com/@YaBoi3Hunna @YaBoi3Hunna]. An early demo was played as a preview on February 9th, 2025.
