The stream was titled "in a mood..." and only featured the movie and an intro/outro segment with music and the band logo.
Official release
Introducing mad routine got uploaded to YouTube on December 14th, 2024.

Plot
The film shows Vanessa and Cole live their life in late 90s, early 2000s and some band struggles. They walk around town and explore a record store and other shops, hang out and play guitar.

Cole wants to surprise Vanessa with a CD walkman from Roy but she's on the phone arguing with Richard so he gives it to her later. Then they go through their findings including a score for Linkin Park's Somewhere I Belong and a Lord of the Strings picture. After decorating the wall they go shopping clothes.

In the next scene Cole tells Vanessa their show is cancelled because they didn't sell enough tickets even with the openers and the advertisement efforts. Then they write find a way back on camera (the song was already written in real life). The in a nest bit is a reference to the nest meme.

The music video was filmed in the summer during the band trip of pool party at Farney's on Jefferson and at The Washington in Burlington, IA by V & C, @JordanBink and @YaBoi3Hunna. An early demo was played as a preview on February 9th, 2025.

The song is about Vanessa trying to get Cole to let go of his guard being a city guy to be able to have a united voice and authenticity.

Hesitation
Hesitation was the first mad routine song to be worked on live on Veela's stream (on October 30th, 2025). City started the instrumental during his first band trip in 2024 and wrote the chorus lyrics when he got back home. The project was originally called Fan Tan Alley. An early demo was also played as a preview on January 10th, 2025.

Fresh air
Fresh air's demo name was darkness. The music video was recorded at The Strathcona Hotel and at Urge Tattoos in Victoria, BC. The band actually got tattoos by Gnome (Lindsay) during filming.

Double life
Double life was started on City's birthday in 2025 and was called birthday for almost a year. Depeche Mode and Eurythmics were influences for this song. An early demo was played as a preview on February 28th, 2025. The music video was recorded at The Strathcona Hotel and at Big Bad John's in the hotel in Victoria, BC.

Rot
Rot was mentioned in the pool party '99 movie as it was meant to be on that EP first. It was redacted from the movie and the title was kept a secret until the website release of this EP. V started and produced a lot of this song.

When the mad respecters solved the puzzle that revealed part of the lyrics for this song, another solution was crowdsourced, which became rat by rat moodine. This also got recorded and a distorted and reversed version was included on the website as a hidden track.

It's the ending music for the insomniac movie.

1999
This song is a chill version of 99. It was played during multiple streams, including on April 17th, 2026.

Color blind
Color blind was played on April 19th, 2026.

Bap is the first single released by mad routine on February 2nd, 2025, after the debut EP in a mood. It was first revealed and made available on YouTube during a livestream on December 1st, 2024. The name of the song refers to boom bap.

They finished the music two days before the reveal stream, they shot the music video and V edited it the next day while City mixed the song. Bap was a placeholder title kept because of V. Part of the lyric writing process is shown in the in a mood movie.

History
The beginning
The instrumental was originally called bap underground, made by City sometime during the summer of 2024. He later sent V the babyboy lyrics section because the community kept calling him so. They decided to finish the song on November 29th, 2024 for the reveal discussion stream. This was the first time V wrote a chorus in front of someone in real life. They recorded the lyrics during the same night, making changes at the last minute too. They recorded the music video the next day on November 30th, 2024. City mixed the song and V edited the video that night.

Bap 3 video
The music video was first uploaded to Veela's YouTube channel on December 1st, 2024. It was first made available to Twitch viewers and Discord members and it was initially titled "BAP 3 video". This sparked a meme about having various versions of bap.

Bap 4 video
Discord members recorded a fan music video for bap as a Christmas gift to the band. It was revealed on December 24th, 2024 after many participants changing their name to "are you mad?" and giving other clues to V and City.

Bap 5
The website, launched on January 1st, 2025, included a link titled "stuck" up until the release of pool party. The page displayed a heavily distorted version of bap and a distorted image.

In a mood EP
Bap is included in the digital download of in a mood available on the website since January 1st, 2025. It was also included on the cassette release.

Official release
The official release of the song was on February 2nd, 2025, the music video got published on the mad routine YouTube channel on February 7th.

Bap 6
The second song from pool party, motivation, was initially called bap 6 internally.

Bap 2026
The demo name for zombified was bap 2026.
History
Crowdfunding
The trip for the production of visuals and the accompanying movie was crowdfunded starting on October 8th, 2025. The goal was reached on October 25th, 2025.

Band trip
City went to Canada to shoot music videos between November 1st, 2025 and November 29th, 2025.

Initial reveal
The EP poster, name and tracklist (except for the 6th song) were revealed during the livestream of the trip on November 28th, 2025.

Website release
The EP was released on the redesigned website on February 6th, 2026. Both streaming and digital purchase are available on the site. Most of the listed cassettes and merch were sold on the first day. The site is split into a USA and an international section because of the tariffs. There are 50-50 cassettes and different merch on each side.

Official release
The EP released on streaming sites on February 20th, 2026. The music video for insomniac also released on the same day.

Cassettes
The cassettes were first packed during the livestream on February 27th, 2026. The full tracklist was visible on stream, including the 4 secret tracks. The music video for control also released on this day.

Music videos
The music videos were released on Fridays starting from the streaming site release. The music videos for fresh air and double life were first played during the Sunday stream of March 8th, 2026.

Background
Insomniac
Insomniac's project was originally called anvil and the instrumental was included in the movie introducing mad routine, first shown on November 17th, 2024. An early demo was played on January 17th, 2025 with live vocals, without City's knowledge and it was kept as a secret for a year.

Control
Control's demo name was yashica.

In a mood is the movie for the EP with the same title. It was released on Feburary 16th, 2025 along with a 11-track soundtrack.

History
Official release
The movie was played on February 16th, 2025 and was also made available for purchase and watch on YouTube. The movie's original soundtrack is also available for purchase.

Plot
The movie starts with the band listening to the master of rude instinct. Then V tries to get the EP played on the radio, but they're asking for a manager, an album, press shots, things the band can't afford. City suggests going to a label, which Vanessa really doesn't want. They ask each other about their hopes and dreams. Cole wants to be able to play wherever they want to play in the world, V doesn't give an answer.

Later on Ashley from Boy Boy Boy calls V, telling her that they have to pay the money back that they got from their label. Cole knows how this goes, but he sees labels as the next step for mad routine. Vanessa wants to do this without the help of a label, having bad experiences with Richard already. They start arguing to the point Cole leaves, which leads into the music video for disappear.

After the music video Cole apologizes to V (while they work on the poster for the EP). Vanessa feels like Cole was right, and doesn't really believe he honestly thinks they can do this. V wants to do home-made music videos, they go on to record one for won't stop runnin right there. Then they go to a park full of peacocks. Then Cole talks about having to leave soon. Vanessa still doesn't really believe he'll come back.

Then they write bap (they were actually writing it IRL too). They then go to the beach and talk about their hopes and dreams again. City wants them to be big film-makers now, Vanessa wants one million dollars. Then V finds Cole a rock.

They then talk about making the music video for find a way back, about how they first met. City tells something from an encyclopaedia then the music video begins. V happened to pick up the cassette marked FAWB accidentally.

Finally they pack up, then City has a monologue about being glad to have found someone to make music with. (This balances Cole's apparent indifference.) It's important to keep trying. They then go to the airport for Cole to leave (City was actually leaving in real life too).

In addition to the in a mood EP the movie features an original soundtrack as well as bap (already released) and disparait (released with the movie). Disparait is also part of the soundtrack release.

Initial reveal
Music videos
The music videos were released on Fridays starting from the streaming site release. The music videos for fresh air and double life were first played during the Sunday stream of March 8th, 2026.

Background
Insomniac
Insomniac's project was originally called anvil and the instrumental was included in the movie introducing mad routine, first shown on November 17th, 2024. An early demo was played on January 17th, 2025 with live vocals, without City's knowledge and it was kept as a secret for a year.

Control
Control's demo name was yashica.
